UFC legend, current light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been arrested in New Mexico early Thursday morning for alleged DWI and negligent use of a firearm, according to multiple reports.
Jones, is currently on probation for disorderly conduct for an incident back in April of 2019 at a strip club. He pleaded no contest for another strip club incident in October of 2019. Jones had pulled down a strip-club cocktail waitress on to his lap, slapped her genitals, and kissed her on her neck. He was charged with disorderly conduct in that case.
According to reports, Jones and another man who was in his vehicle was pulled over. The police was responding to a call of a single gun shot that went off. The officer saw an open bottle of alcohol and Jones was appeared to be drunk. He failed the sobriety tests and was arrested. Jones told the authorities he had no idea where the gun shot went off at.
DWI carries a maximum 90 days in jail in New Mexico, 1- year of probation, and 48 hours mandatory jail time if convicted.
The UFC is aware of the incident and have been in contact with Jones's management team, according to sources.
Jones, 32, was released from custody and has a bond arraignment hearing on April 8th.
