According to reports, the NFL league offices is appealing Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson's six game suspension this season. The league wants a more stiffer suspension for Watson.
NFL disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson says the league will inform the NFL Players Association about their appeal and they reportedly filed their appeal on Wednesday afternoon.
According to sources, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has the option to appoint someone to appeal or to appeal himself. Sources told Chrismckradio on Wednesday, the NFL wants Watson to be suspended for one year.
Watson was sued by 25 women who work as massage attendants, they allege Watson sexually assaulted them when he was a member of the Houston Texans. Watson was never indicted by a grand jury, and he has settled 20 out of 24 cases. One case was dropped. The encounters took place from March of 2020 to March of 2021.
Watson will be docked $57,500 game checks for six games, for a total of $345,000 off his $1.035 million base salary.
