Undefeated boxing star Shakur Stevenson will be fighting for the vacant WBO junior lightweight title this Saturday night against South African Jeremiah Nakathila. The fight Stevenson wants is WBC junior lightweight champion Oscar Valdez, according to reports.
" I want Oscar Valdez next. Nothing else. That's the big fight. That's the fight fans want to see. Make it happen," says Stevenson.
Stevenson, (15-0, 8 KO's) hadn't fought since December of 2020. Top Rank promotions wanted Stevenson to stay active enough, so they decided on him fighting Nakathila (21-1, 17 KO's).
Nakathila is known for his power strikes to the body, Stevenson says he will break him down physically and mentally with his barrage of punches come Saturday night.
" I be ready, he will be in for a tough fight of his life against me."
According to reports, Valdez who too is undefeated (29-0, 23 KO's) says bring Stevenson or anyone on, he doesn't duck no challenge.
Stevenson says after his fight on Saturday night, he will go to Top Rank and try to get them to arrange the fight against Valdez.
"I'm saying this on camera, make sure it goes somewhere. I'm willing to get back in the ring in September, October. Whenever Valdez is ready to fight, I'm ready to fight. He don't have anything in the way of us fighting, so its got to happen next. I'm going to Top Rank, I'm calling him out."
