In "The Last Dance" 10-part documentary series of Michael Jordan and the last season of the Chicago Bulls championship dynasty, Jordan says in the documentary, he would had signed for one more season with the Bulls if they all would had return with coach Phil Jackson to seek a 7th NBA title.
Jordan says, " If you asked all the guys who won in '98, they all would had said yes, I've been signing one-year contracts anyways up to that point."
Then general manager Jerry Krause wanted the team to disband. He told coach Jackson in the beginning of the season, his Bulls can go 82-0, and he still wouldn't be retained. Jackson wanted out after the season. Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf reportedly wanted Jackson, Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman to return for one-more season, to seek a 7th title, but Jackson made up his mind and didn't want to come back after his feud with Krause, according to Jackson.
Jackson says, " Well, I think I should just take a break. I don't think its fair to Krause, and I know it would be difficult for him to accept that."
