According to sources, the NBA league offices are investigating Brooklyn Nets All-Star guard Kyrie Irving for attending his sister's birthday party event without wearing a mask. The league's COVID-19 protocols forbids players and coaches to attend clubs, parties, lounges, and events that have more than 15 people in attendance, due to the coronavirus pandemic. If in violation, the player will be fined, and suspended indefinitely without pay.
Irving hasn't been playing games with the Nets this past week. He has missed 4 games due to personal reasons, according to reports.
According to sources, there are videos that someone took at Irving's sister's party showing Irving laughing without wearing a mask, while his sister blowing out candles. The league says if the video is recent, Irving will be in breach of the NBA's coronavirus protocols.
The league has postponed three games this past week due to players testing positive for the coronavirus.
Under league rules, if a player has been in violation of the league's COVID-19 protocols the player would lose 1/72nd of his salary.
Houston Rockets All-Star guard James Harden was fined $50,000 for in breach of the league's COVID-19 protocols for not wearing a mask at his friend's party event back during on Christmas.
