According to reports, Boston Celtics have been granted permission to interview Los Angeles Clippers assistant head coach Chauncey Billups for their vacant head coaching position.
Celtics' new president of basketball operation Brad Stevens immediately started calling around the league to begin searching candidates to get interviewed for the Celtics head coaching vacancy after he stepped down as coach after 8 years. Stevens got promoted to his new role with the organization, after Danny Ainge stepped down as team president of basketball operations.
Billups, 44, was drafted third overall by the Boston Celtics in the 1997 NBA draft. He was a five-time NBA All-Star who played 17 seasons in the NBA. He won a NBA title with the Detroit Pistons in 2004 over the Los Angeles Lakers, he also won the NBA Finals MVP.
