According to sources, 6-time NBA All-Star forward Blake Griffin wants to be released or traded from the Detroit Pistons to a contender for the NBA title. The Pistons are looking at possible buyout options for Griffin.

The Pistons reportedly have agreed to sit Griffin until they can either trade him, or buy him out of contract, according to reports.

The Pistons are currently 8-19 in the Central Division. They are in the rebuilding stage of their franchise. Griffin's hefty contract is at issue for teams to want to pick it up. He is owed $36 million for this season and $39 million next season.

Griffin, 31, is averaging 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game this season with Detroit.
